My Fitness Journey: From Fear to Strength
In early 2024, I decided something had to change. I had been going to the gym for years, but I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted. Ten pounds stood between me and my goal, and I had struggled to lose them for what felt like forever. With my 46th birthday quickly approaching, I knew it was time to take control.
I didn’t just want to lose weight—I wanted to feel strong and confident. I had this vision in my head: bench pressing at least 85 pounds like Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2 and finally doing pull-ups, something I had never been able to do. But honestly? I was scared. Heavy weights intimidated me, and the equipment I’d never used before felt overwhelming.
At my age how would this be possible?
That’s when I started working with Josh, my trainer. From day one, he pushed me beyond what I thought I could do. When I started, I was only leg pressing 90 pounds. Josh looked at me and said, “You’re capable of so much more.” Before I knew it, I was pressing 300 pounds! Every session, he challenged me to go further, and little by little, my confidence grew.
By July, I hit a milestone that still makes me smile—I did my first pull-up. Something I had never been able to do in my entire life was now a reality. And that bench press goal? I crushed it! I can now bench press 85 pounds, just like I dreamed. More importantly, I’m no longer afraid of lifting heavy. I feel strong. I feel powerful. I feel like the best version of myself.
And the weight? I didn’t just lose 10 pounds—I lost 12! For years, that felt impossible, but now it’s my reality. This journey taught me that fear is temporary, but strength lasts. If you believe in yourself and have the right support, you can crush goals you once thought were impossible. I’m living proof.
But the changes didn’t stop at the gym. As I grew stronger physically, I grew stronger socially too. I’ve become more outgoing, more confident, and less introverted. I find myself engaging with people more, sharing my story, and inspiring others. Fitness didn’t just transform my body—it transformed my life.
Thanks Josh and EOS for making this all possible!
